When you are completely at rest - how many calories do you think you
use? This would be the amount of calories that will support your
breathing, your heart beating, and many other physiological functions that
your body performs daily without you even being aware! This number is
called the Resting Metabolic Rate and it is important to know because this
is the number you could add calories to (for weight gain) or subtract (to
lose weight).
